Dr. Bernstein is committed to looking at the whole person to identify the origins of issues and supporting patients in moving forward to create better health and well-being. The Doctor creates an integrative treatment plan that often involves other members of the staff team, including the Patient Advocate and the Integrative Functional Nutritionist to support patients in reaching their goals.

We at the Holistic Healing Center are committed to looking at the whole person and getting to the root causes of your health concerns. The Doctor, as well as the Lifestyle support team, is here to support patients in moving forward to create better health and well-being. The Doctor creates an integrative treatment plan that involves other members of the team including the Patient Advocate and often the Integrative Functional Nutritionist to support patients in reaching their goals. Nutritional Counseling

Dr. Bernstein is passionate about food and nutrition. She considers optimal food choices to be a solid foundation for creating and maintaining great health. She coordinates with the Patient Advocate, the Registered Dietitian-Integrative Functional Nutritionist, and the staff once she has created your individualized tailored treatment plan.

Kirsten Hamilton RDN, LDN, FMNS, utilizing her care, passion, commitment and knowledge, takes the time with patients to support them in implementing their action plans by further educating and counseling them on how to put their treatment plans into action. During individual sessions, Kirsten supports patients to create behavior change and is patient and encouraging. She may also review and help patients to understand the results of their nutritionally oriented testing.

Kirsten’s strong clinical skills, ability to really listen with compassion and insight, and creative problem-solving abilities complement the Doctor perfectly. She is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with training and experience as a Integrative Functional Nutritionist and due to her varied experience  in clinical practice, and her prior experience of working as a member of a health care team, she has dealt with a wide range of patient populations and medical issues.  Kirsten is caring and is really passionate about making a difference with those she serves. She thrives on working in coordination with the rest of our team to provide the best possible support for the patients. Our goal is that she will be able to support you with diet and lifestyle modifications and offer you that extra time and TLC you may need to achieve your optimal health and well-being.

Kirsten is in-network with most insurance carriers and are happy to submit on your behalf for your visit with  Kirsten.  For those that don’t have good coverage or are not eligible, we offer affordable packages for visits with Kirsten.

In addition to individual nutrition counseling,  Kirsten may offer educational support groups on special topics.

Kirsten can also create individualized meal plans, which are great for when you are unsure of where to start on planning the meals for you and your family for a given day or week! (Time required depends on a person’s preferences, complexity of issues and the number of meals.*)

Meal planning can be a tedious task especially with busy schedules and day to day activities.  Kirsten Hamilton RDN, LDN, FMN will work with you to create a meal plan that fits your dietary needs and schedule. Clients can choose whether they would like a one-week or two-week meal plan. We have created packages so that Kirsten can provide additional encouragement and expertise between visits*.

*There may be an additional charge for individualized Meal Plans and extra support if it is too involved and is not able to be done as part of a visit with the Integrative Functional Nutritionist. In this case it may be not be covered by insurance.

Lifestyle Programs

Debbie Garlits, BS, is our Patient Advocate and Lifestyle Support Specialist and is committed to supporting patients with their healing process and wellness journey.  Debbie creates a supportive, nurturing environment that enhances a patient’s ability to implement the Doctor’s recommendations. She reviews and explains the Doctor’s and Nutritionist’s recommendations and further testing options. She inspires and empowers patients to take the next step toward their optimal health and well-being. She suggests and gives the patient information on various lifestyle modifications recommended by the Doctor.

Leslie Carson BS, is our Personalized Yoga Instructor.  She has over 20 years of practice and teaching experience and takes a holistic approach with a commitment to empowering patients to feel better physically, emotionally and spiritually.  She is warm, insightful, compassionate and approachable.  She personalizes her recommendations based on input from the Doctor and patient’s needs. 

Lifestyle Coaching

Patients do best when supported in their goals to improve their health and well-being. Dr. Debbie Bernstein; Kirsten Hamilton RDN, LDN, FMNS, Integrative Functional Nutritionist; and Debbie Garlits, BS, Patient Advocate/Lifestyle Support Specialist, as a team look at the whole person and will make various suggestions in the areas of diet, exercise and stress management to help patients improve their quality of life and make more productive and educated choices about their health and well-being.

Debbie has comprehensive training in HeartMath and has completed the HeartMath Clinical Certification for Stress, Anxiety and Self-Regulation.  Debbie is also familiar with a variety of stress management, mind-body and relaxation techniques that can enhance well-being and support more restful sleep.  She offers individual sessions for learning and practicing these various techniques. Yoga

Currently offered via Zoom

Leslie Carson is our Viniyoga instructor who is dedicated to helping clients reach their optimal state of health.  Yoga sessions with Leslie are personalized. Her goal is to support each person in developing their own yoga practice that suits and optimizes their unique physical, emotional and spiritual needs. Leslie offers a complimentary 20-minute consultation to explore the best way to move forward and to see if it is a good fit. We encourage you to call our office and schedule a complimentary initial yoga consultation with Leslie.

Getting to the Root Cause - Testing and Diagnostic Modalities

Overview
Dr. Bernstein makes available a variety of cutting edge testing methods to better access and identify the root causes of the patient’s various symptoms and complaints. These include specialty labs and a non-invasive test of one’s  Cardiovascular health performed in house.

Laboratory Testing
Some of the laboratory tests can be added to routine blood work and others are from specialty laboratories and require additional samples. Some specialty laboratories offer tests that can be done at home. Dr Bernstein has done a considerable amount of study and research to provide her patients with the most up to date testing methods at the most affordable prices. Some of these tests are covered or at least partially covered by most major insurances and others require more out of pocket expense.

Specialty Laboratories
These laboratories offer tests that identify various nutrient, hormonal and neurotransmitter deficiencies that are often at the root of the person’s symptoms. It is also now possible to uncover unique genetic predispositions so that one may be more proactive in reducing risk factors to various chronic disease states, including heart disease, osteoporosis, and cancer. Noninvasive Health Assessments

Max Pulse Cardiovascular Testing
We are excited to offer a new non-invasive cardiovascular screening device called the Max Pulse. Using pulsewave analysis and frequency domain analysis techniques, you’ll see a detailed report of the overall health of your cardiovascular system. The Max Pulse analyzes heart rate variability and mean heart rate; elasticity of large, small, and peripheral arteries; arteriosclerosis progress; blood circulation and remaining blood volume; left ventricular power; and mental and physical stress and resistance to stress. This is a unique opportunity to take a detailed look at your cardiovascular health. The cost of the test is $55. There will be a small fee to review the results of your initial test. Dr. Bernstein utilizes the expertise and wisdom of a variety of other complementary and traditional health care providers to better serve all of a patient’s needs. An integrative holistic approach will often be better achieved by providing referrals to others better qualified in their areas of expertise and healing.
